ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT IN THE OIL AND GAS SECTOR

The seminar organized by the OSCE Center in Ashgabat in the videoconference format focused on the best practices of environmental management in the oil and gas sector.

Representatives of the State Concerns “Turkmengaz”, “Turkmenneft”, “Turkmengeologiya”, “Turkmenhimiya”, as well as the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection and other relevant state agencies took part in the seminar.

The seminar familiarized participants with the sustainable management of environmental impact of the oil and gas industry in a sustainable way, and highlighted the importance of energy conservation and energy efficiency in the oil industry.

Two international experts from Norway and the Russian Federation focused on risk management in the oil and gas sector, including its environmental and financial aspects, with particular emphasis on international requirements and relevant standards in this area.

The seminar was organized within the framework of the project “Strengthening cooperation with the host country in the area of environmental good governance and ecological security”.
