UNESCO CLUB OPENED AT THE IMO OF THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF THE COUNTRY

The opening ceremony of the UNESCO Club "Culture of Peace" was held at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. This project was created with the joint participation of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO and the Higher School of Diplomacy.

The event was attended by representatives of the foreign ministry of the country, public organizations, the media, teachers and students of the IIR of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, as well as members of the UNESCO Club "Languages of the World" of the Turkmen National Institute of World Languages named after D. Azadi.

The rector of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan J. Gurbangeldiyev addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. As noted, the students of the university, its graduate students, undergraduates, teachers, being active members of the UNESCO Culture of Peace Club, will deeply study and promote the humanistic principles and ideals of UNESCO, the ideas of peace and mutual understanding between people.

Chinar Rustemova, Executive Secretary of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO, told the participants of the meeting about the tasks and goals, the role of UNESCO clubs concentrated around the world. The creation of UNESCO clubs is aimed at uniting student youth and the adult generation, as well as participants in the international movement of UNESCO for joint activities in the development of science, history, culture, and education. The main tasks of the Clubs include intercultural communication, fostering a mutually respectful attitude towards other cultures, preserving cultural and historical heritage, and protecting the environment.

The lecturers of the Department of Social Sciences of the Institute acquainted the participants of the event in detail with the plans and upcoming activities of the UNESCO Culture of Peace Club, as well as with the equipment of the university premises in which it is located, and where events in its life will develop from now on. In the future, participation in scientific and educational projects, cooperation with public organizations, cultural centers of our country and regional Associations of UNESCO Clubs is planned.

It should be noted that the UNESCO Club "Culture of Peace", which opened its doors at the Higher School of Diplomacy, became the second in a row in our country. The first UNESCO Club "Languages of the World" in Turkmenistan opened in July this year on the basis of the Turkmen National Institute of World Languages named after D. Azadi. The creation of UNESCO clubs is of high importance, first of all, from the standpoint of the comprehensive formation and development of creative and search activities, knowledge about the cultural values, traditions and customs of their country among the youth.
