PRESIDENT OF TURKMENISTAN RECEIVED DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION

Today, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexey Overchuk.

Having expressed his sincere gratitude for the opportunity to discuss topical issues of cooperation in the personal meeting, the guest conveyed heartfelt greetings and best wishes from President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin to the head of state, confirming Russia's commitment to traditionally friendly, good-neighbourly relations with Turkmenistan.

Having thanked for his kind words, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that the current visit of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation to our country is considered as a logical sequence of the interstate dialogue, which assumes a regular character and has a great significance in promotion of mutually beneficial bilateral partnership.

Having conveyed warm and best regards to the top officials of the Russian Federation, the head of the state with satisfaction stated resultativeness of the talks held in the recent official visit of the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation to Turkmenistan. Key areas of further Turkmen-Russian interaction were outlined and a solid package of documents were signed as well as the joint business forum was held successfully.

During the meeting, an interested exchange of views of priority issues of interstate cooperation based on principles of deep strategic partnership developing in a wide range of areas took place. At that, an emphasis was made on practical realization of the reached agreements called to give a new impulse for expansion of fruitful interaction in various areas.

In the given context, a constructive character of the Turkmen-Russian political dialogue, which is regularly strengthened both at bilateral and multilateral levels, was pointed out. The interparliamentary contracts called to supplement and enrich the interstate relations are also maintained actively.

The trade and economic sphere acts as an important area of Turkmen-Russian cooperation. In the course of many years, Russia remains one of the leading trade partners of Turkmenistan. A positive dynamics is observed in the mutual trade turnover. The interstate commission within the framework of which, coordination of efforts in the entire range of issues of bilateral interaction is maintained, assumes a great importance. Partnership in the oil and gas sector, transport, industry and other spheres is developed successfully.

In this connection, necessity of practical implementation of the existing potential of cooperation, its diversification and coverage of new topical areas for steady increase in the volume of mutual trade and investment, realization of joint projects was underlined. From its side, Turkmenistan is ready to consider concrete proposals of Russian partners.

An inseparable and important link of interstate relations is the humanitarian sector where a special place is taken by traditional contacts in education, science, education, healthcare as well as digital technologies.

At the end of the meeting, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexey Overchuk expressed confidence in further successful development of mutually beneficial cooperation meeting common interests and committed to long-term prospects.
