TURKMEN BUSINESS: STAGES OF GROWTH

In March, the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan celebrates its 15th anniversary. Over the years, an effective public-private partnership has been formed, with the full support of the state, Turkmen business has grown quantitatively and changed qualitatively, the ranks of entrepreneurs are increasingly replenished by young people and women. The contribution of the private sector to the country's GDP, to the implementation of such national priorities as innovative development, diversification and digitalization of the economy, import substitution and export growth, ensuring food security and creating new jobs has grown significantly.

Studying domestic and international experience, the members of the Union create new production facilities based on local raw materials and advanced world technologies, successfully implement large-scale transport and construction projects. For 15 years, the range of activities of Turkmen entrepreneurs has immeasurably expanded - from the production of consumer goods and household services for the population to the provision of modern digital services to promote business and develop e-commerce. The jubilee exhibition of the Union, which opens on the 17th of March, will present a wide panorama of the achievements of industrialists and entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan in various fields.

Outlining the main provisions of the Program for the socio-economic development of the country for 2023 at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on the 10th of February, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that it is planned to develop small and medium-sized businesses and increase the share of the private sector in the structure of GDP (excluding the fuel and energy complex) to 71.3 percent. As the head of state emphasized, steadily making the transition to a market economy, Turkmenistan seeks to significantly increase the share of private property, removing barriers and restrictions on the development of the private sector, which ultimately reduces the level of state presence in the economy.

At the same meeting of the government, it was noted that this year the first stage of the new modern administrative center of the Ahal velayat, the city of Arkadag, which is one of the largest projects in the region, will be put into operation. The city of Arkadag is called upon to become the embodiment of all the most advanced in the world urban planning practice, in terms of digital solutions for life support systems and services, environmental standards - in a word, to comply with the model of a sustainable, green and healthy city promoted by the UN. And domestic business contributes to the implementation of this unique project.

In the city of Arkadag, members of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan are building 84 two-story cottages, 24 seven-story and 24 nine-story luxury residential buildings, as well as a shopping and entertainment center and a hotel with 240 rooms. The construction is carried out by the most experienced private companies, which have many high-quality completed projects. According to the UIET, social infrastructure facilities are provided in residential areas to create a barrier-free environment for people with disabilities, allowing them to move independently and access any objects. These are specially equipped ramps in front of entrances, highlighted with color and specially tiled paths for the visually impaired, etc.
