Prospects of developing Turkmen-Japanese relations discussed at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan

On February 5, 2025, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the Japanese delegation headed by Special Advisor to the Prime Minister of Japan Nagashima Akihisa.

During the meeting, the sides discussed present issues of bilateral Turkmen-Japanese cooperation, which is successfully developing nowadays on a wide range.

It was emphasized that the high-level dialog built on the basis of mutual respect and trust plays a special role in the expansion of bilateral relations.

The sides exchanged views on the upcoming events with the participation of both countries. In this context, emphasis was made on the participation of the Turkmen delegation in the 2025 Osaka World EXPO to be held in Japan, as well as the arrangement of the National Day of Turkmenistan within its framework.

Speaking about trade and economic partnership, which is one of the key vectors of Turkmen-Japanese relations, the sides emphasized that Turkmenistan and major Japanese companies have accumulated lasting experience in cooperation in various fields, including the gas and chemical industries. The Turkmen-Japanese and Japan-Turkmen Committees on Economic Cooperation were emphasized as an important mechanism of bilateral trade and economic cooperation.

At the same time, the sides discussed preparations for the First Summit within the framework of the Central Asia-Japan Dialogue.
