Meeting with the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission

On March 27, 2025, on the sidelines of the 20th Ministerial Meeting “Central Asia - European Union”, a meeting was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission Kaja Kallas.

During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on the current state and priority areas for the development of constructive cooperation between Turkmenistan and the EU.

It was particularly emphasized that long-term ties are consistently strengthening both on a bilateral and multilateral basis, in particular in the “Central Asia–European Union” format.

Speaking about economic relations, the effective work of the Joint Commission was noted, which discusses a wide range of issues of cooperation in the fields of economics, culture, education, climate change and others.

The parties discussed cooperation in the fields of energy, transport and connectivity, environmental protection, in particular initiatives to reduce methane emissions and the development of renewable energy sources.
