Visit of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan to Estonia
On March 28, 2025, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Ahmet Gurbanov visited the Republic of Estonia.
During the visit, political consultations were held with Deputy Minister for Political Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia Martin Roger.
During the meeting, the sides discussed current issues of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Estonia.
It was noted that intergovernmental and interdepartmental contacts contribute to strengthening bilateral relations in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres.
Speaking about strengthening cooperation between the foreign ministries of two countries, the usefulness of expanding the legal-contractual framework was expressed.
The possibilities of increasing the volume of trade and economic partnership were thoroughly considered. The parties exchanged views on the prospects for cooperation in the field of digitalization.
The need to intensify cultural and humanitarian cooperation was emphasized. In this regard, the development of cooperation in the field of education, the establishment of direct contacts between universities, the exchange of students and teachers were named among the priority areas.
During the visit, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan held a meeting with the Director of the Department of Eastern Europe and Central Asia of the Estonian Foreign Ministry, Erika Ellama-Ots.
Good level of cooperation on international platforms was noted.
In addition, the need to establish and strengthen direct contacts between representatives of the business circles of Turkmenistan and Estonia was noted. The possibilities of creating a platform to increase the volume and expand trade turnover were also considered.
As part of the stay of the Turkmen delegation in Estonia, a visit took place to the E-Estonia Digitization Center in Tallinn, where a meeting was held between Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan A. Gurbanov and the Adviser of the Center on Digital Transformation Petr Holm.
