The Foreign Ministers of Turkmenistan and the Federal Republic of Somalia discussed prospects for cooperation
On December 13, 2025, .a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Abdisalam Abdi Ali, who arrived in Turkmenistan on a visit to take part in the celebratory events and the International Forum dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan.
At the beginning of the meeting, Minister Abdisalam Abdi Ali conveyed his congratulations to the Turkmen side on the International Day of Neutrality and the 30th anniversary of the permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan.
It was noted that there is significant potential for cooperation between the two countries in areas of mutual interest. In this context, it was emphasized that intergovernmental and interagency contacts contribute to strengthening bilateral relations in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres.
The sides expressed their intention to strengthen cooperation between the foreign policy agencies of the two countries and emphasized the expediency of expanding the legal and contractual framework.
The interlocutors discussed cooperation between the two states within international organizations, primarily within the framework of the United Nations. The similarity of the approaches of Turkmenistan and Somalia to issues of global peace and sustainable development was noted.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the sides expressed confidence that the current visit of Minister Abdisalam Abdi Ali would contribute to the further strengthening of relations between Turkmenistan and Somalia.
