Meeting of the President of Turkmenistan with the Prime Minister of Japan
On December 20, 2025, during the working visit to Japan, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with the Prime Minister of Japan Takaichi Sanae.
Warmly welcoming the Turkmen leader, Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae thanked him for accepting the invitation to visit Japan and expressed confidence that present meeting plays an important role in strengthening bilateral cooperation.
The Prime Minister of Japan noted the constructiveness of interstate relations, emphasizing the importance of consistent high-level visits.
Thanking for the invitation and hospitality, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov once again congratulated Takaichi Sanae on her election as Prime Minister of Japan and wished her success in her state work. Taking the opportunity, the President of Turkmenistan conveyed warm greetings and best wishes of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Hero Arkadag.
The head of state also sincerely congratulated the Prime Minister of Japan on the successful completion of the World Expo 2025.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that Turkmenistan attaches great importance to developing multilateral and long-term relations with Japan.
It was emphasized that Turkmenistan and Japan successfully cooperate not only bilaterally, but also within international organizations, particularly the United Nations, and reciprocally support initiatives to ensure peace and sustainable development.
The establishment of inter parliamentary friendship groups have become a significant step in strengthening interstate dialogue.
The President of Turkmenistan noted that trade-economic cooperation is an important area of Turkmen-Japanese cooperation. In this regard, the importance of the bilateral documents signed during the current visit to Japan was underlined.
Cultural-humanitarian partnership is also an integral component of Turkmen-Japanese relations. Cooperation between institutions of higher education of Turkmenistan and Japan is developing actively and effectively. In this regard, the need to strengthen long-term contacts in this area was emphasized.
Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae emphasized that Japan highly appraises Turkmenistan’s peace-loving foreign policy. Taking the opportunity, Takaichi Sanae conveyed greetings and best wishes to the National Leader of the Turkmen People Hero Arkadag.
At the end of the meeting, the sides expressed confidence in further strengthening of mutually beneficial cooperation and exchanged best wishes.
