On the meeting with the WHO Regional Director for Europe

On 17 February 2026, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan between Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Myahri Byashimova and the Regional Director for Europe of the World Health Organization Dr.Hans Kluge.

During the meeting, the sides reviewed the current state and prospects of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the World Health Organization. It was noted that the training course on health diplomacy, implemented in the CIS region, has become the first programme of its kind and is being successfully conducted with Turkmenistan serving as the host country.

The sides also discussed the draft Roadmap in Support of Health and Well-being in Central Asia for 2026–2030.

The discussion further covered the implementation of the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control in Turkmenistan, preparedness for public health emergencies within the framework of the “One Health” concept, as well as the promotion of the Caspian Environmental Initiative.

Hans Kluge was invited to take part in major regional and international forums scheduled to be held throughout 2026.
