The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan met with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus

On May 21, 2026, a meeting was held at the MFA of Turkmenistan between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Pavel Utyupin.

During the meeting, the sides discussed current issues of cooperation between the two countries in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic, as well as cultural-humanitarian spheres.

They emphasized the closeness of positions of two states on key issues pertaining to global and regional agenda. The sides assessed the level of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Belarus within regional and international structures.

In this regard, the importance of effective collaboration within the Commonwealth of Independent States was highlighted. The parties expressed confidence that the meeting of the Heads of Government Council of the CIS scheduled to take place on May 22 in Ashgabat will serve as a valuable input to further development of cooperation between the countries of the given format.

The diplomats discussed issues related to trade and economic partnership between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Belarus.

The possibilities of expanding cooperation in cultural and humanitarian field were also discussed, including the preparation of relevant events in the current year.
