President of Turkmenistan held a meeting with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan

On May 22, 2026, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov, who arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the successive meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Expressing gratitude for the hospitality, Abdulla Aripov noted that Uzbekistan is sincerely proud of impressive achievements of Turkmenistan under the far-sighted leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

The Prime Minister of Uzbekistan conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the head of Turkmenistan and the National Leader of the Turkmen people.

Having returned greetings and best wishes to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov thanked Abdulla Aripov for accepting the invitation to visit Turkmenistan. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that the participation of the Prime Minister Aripov in the current meeting confirms the commitment of Uzbekistan to further strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation within the CIS.

The head of Turkmenistan expressed confidence that the decisions adopted at the upcoming meeting will contribute to strengthening practical cooperation between the CIS states and that the current visit of the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan will further strengthen the friendly ties between the two countries.

It was noted that the friendly and good-neighborly relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan are long-term and strategic in nature.

The two countries successfully cooperate not only bilaterally but also within reputable international and regional organizations, such as the UN, OSCE, ECO, and the CIS.

Speaking about trade-economic relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan, the head of state noted the significant experience of partnership in this area. In this context, transport and logistics were identified as promising areas of Turkmen-Uzbek cooperation.

The importance of strengthening bilateral cultural and humanitarian ties was emphasized. In this regard, the significance of the recent international equestrian competitions and the “Pearl of the East” beauty contest aimed at enhancing the global fame of Akhal-Teke horses held in Uzbekistan was noted.

At the end of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov exchanged best wishes, including to the fraternal peoples of the two countries, and expressed confidence in the further strengthening of Turkmen-Uzbek relations, based on centuries-old good-neighborliness.
