On May 27, 2026, in Washington, D.C., a meeting was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the Deputy Secretary of State of the United States of America Christopher Landau.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the current state and prospects for further development of Turkmen-American relations in political-diplomatic, trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian, educational and other areas of mutual interest.

The parties noted with satisfaction the successful holding of the C5+1 Summit in Washington, D.C., as well as the bilateral meeting between the Presidents of Turkmenistan and the United States of America last November, which gave new impetus to the development of cooperation between the two countries.

Special attention was paid to strengthening economic partnership, including through the expansion of contacts with U.S. business circles. In this context, the sides emphasized the significance of the working visit of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the United States this year, during which meetings were held with representatives of American business.

The parties also exchanged views on preparations for the upcoming visit of the U.S.–Turkmenistan Business Council delegation to Turkmenistan and the next round of Annual Bilateral Consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the U.S. Department of State, planned to be held in Ashgabat.

At the end of the meeting, the sides expressed their readiness to continue regular contacts aimed at further strengthening the traditionally friendly and mutually beneficial partnership between Turkmenistan and the United States of America.
