The President of Turkmenistan participated in the Informal Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and the Republic of Azerbaijan

On July 31, 2026, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov paid a working visit to the Kyrgyz Republic to participate in the Informal Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Early in the morning, the head of Turkmenistan arrived at the capital's International Airport, from where he departed for the Issyk-Kul region of Kyrgyzstan. At the airport, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov was seen off by officials.

Sometime later, the presidential plane landed at Issyk-Kul International Airport, where the national flags of the Summit participating countries were raised on flagpoles.

Guards of Honor lined the carpet leading from the aircraft's steps. At the airport, the President of Turkmenistan was warmly welcomed by Adylbek Kasymaliev, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic and Head of the Presidential Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic, and members of our country's official delegation.

From the airport, the Turkmen leader's motorcade proceeded to the Summit venue – the Congress Center of the State Residence of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic in Cholpon-Ata.

At the Congress Center, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov was warmly welcomed by President Sadyr Japarov of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Following the official group photo ceremony of the participating countries' leaders, an informal Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and the Republic of Azerbaijan was held there.

After warmly welcoming the Summit participants, President Sadyr Japarov expressed gratitude to everyone for accepting the invitation to visit Kyrgyzstan. Noting that Turkmenistan is chairing the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and the Republic of Azerbaijan this year, the head of the Kyrgyz Republic praised our country's efforts in this area, expressing gratitude to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov for the invitation to the Consultative Meeting, which will be held in Avaza.

President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, speaking at the Summit, also took the opportunity to express gratitude to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov for Turkmenistan's accession to the Treaty of Friendship, Good-Neighborliness, and Cooperation for the Development of Central Asia in the 21st Century.

At the beginning of his address, the President of Turkmenistan expressed sincere gratitude to the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadyr Japarov, for the hospitality and high level of organization of the current meeting. He took the opportunity to convey warm greetings and best wishes for successful and fruitful work from the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Hero Arkadag, to the Summit participants.

The head of state also congratulated the Kyrgyz side on the opening of remarkable new facilities on the shores of Lake Issyk-Kul, expressing confidence that this modern infrastructure will not only enhance the lake's shores but will also provide a powerful impetus for the development of the tourism potential of the entire region.

Welcoming President Ilham Aliyev of the Republic of Azerbaijan, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that at the Tashkent Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia held last year, a unanimous decision was made on Azerbaijan's full participation in this format. In this regard, the head of Turkmenistan once again congratulated President Ilham Aliyev and, through him, the people of Azerbaijan on this occasion.

As noted, a Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and the Republic of Azerbaijan is scheduled to be held in Turkmenistan's Avaza National Tourist Zone on October 8, 2026.

Our country approaches this significant event with the utmost responsibility and is doing everything necessary to ensure the upcoming Summit is as productive as possible, with a high level of content and organization, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized.

In this context, the head of state announced that Turkmenistan has prepared and sent to the participating states a draft agenda for the meeting, which includes five main areas. Specifically, these include an exchange of views on pressing regional and international issues of peace, stability, and security; further strengthening political and diplomatic cooperation between the countries of Central Asia and the Republic of Azerbaijan; deepening trade and economic partnerships, expanding energy cooperation, and developing sustainable transport and logistics corridors; joint measures to protect the environment and adapt to climate change, promote the rational use of the water resources of the Amu Darya and Syr Darya rivers, and coordinate efforts to restore the Aral Sea; developing cultural, educational, and scientific ties; and expanding student and youth exchanges.

Noting that Turkmenistan believes all the proposed topics are highly relevant and significant for our countries, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that a number of international forums and cultural events will be held in Avaza during the preparations for and holding of the Summit. Expressing confidence that, as before, the Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan will approach the organization and holding of such international meetings with interest and responsibility, the President of Turkmenistan once again expressed gratitude to all heads of state for their constructive attitude toward cooperation.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov's speech was listened to with great attention.

Following the speeches, the "Cholpon-Ata Declaration following the Informal Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and the Republic of Azerbaijan" was signed.

In the Declaration, the heads of state emphasize that strengthening regional cooperation between the Central Asian countries and the Republic of Azerbaijan meets the fundamental interests of their peoples and contributes to stability and prosperity in the region. They also reaffirm their commitment to further strengthening relations of friendship, good-neighborliness, mutual respect, and trust. Following the Summit, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, along with the heads of friendly states, attended the opening ceremony of the Baku Hotel in the village of Kara-Oi in the Issyk-Kul region.

During the ceremony, the distinguished guests were introduced to the conditions and facilities created at the new hotel complex.

Following his working visit to the Kyrgyz Republic, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov arrived at Issyk-Kul International Airport for his departure home. There, the head of state was seen off by Adylbek Kasymaliev, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic and Head of the Presidential Administration, and members of the official delegation of our country.

Following the flight to Ashgabat, the presidential plane landed at the capital's International Airport, where the head of Turkmenistan was met by officials.
