YOUNG DANCERS OF NATIONAL SCHOOL OF DANCE SPORT PERFORM IN SPECTACULAR SHOW

170 children performed onstage in a spectacular dance show at Watan Cinema-Concert Hall. The capital’s dance clubs, members of the Dance Sport Federation of Turkmenistan, devoted their recitals to International Women’s Day. The Hall was filled to capacity as mothers, fathers, friends, and those who love the art of Terpsichore (the Muse of dancing in ancient Greek mythology), came to support young dancers.

The young talents had entered the hall one hour prior to the concert to rehearse onstage. Beautiful ball dresses, elegant hairstyles, eyes sparking with excitement – the dancers were very eager to take to the stage as soon as possible to showcase their dancing skills.

Four-year-old Aylin Jumagulova started taking classes at Art-Motion Dance Sport Club only half a year ago. According to her mother, the girl has changed greatly since then, having become physically fitter, more self-motivated, communicative and open. She finds great enjoyment in her dancing lessons. Aylin also takes drawing lessons and studies English, but dancing is her priority.

This is what it is like being modern children. They enjoy learning, reading and creating; they are curious, quick-witted, ingenious and energetic and are well able to do many different things. Such action-packed and intense childhood experiences significantly contribute to the overall personal development of children, projecting their success onto the country’s future prosperity.

Dance instructors of the clubs hold meetings for pupils and their parents, at which they jointly discuss stylistic features of upcoming performances. These efforts produce rewarding results: amazing dance outfits and accessories, radiant faces and total immersion in the world of grace and beauty.

The exciting concert program featured some 30 dances, including the fast-paced dance, kushtdepdi, performed by guest artists – Yyldyz Dance Group.

Then, eight couples (with the girls dressed in red gowns and the boys in traditional classic clothes: white shirts and black trousers) danced the graceful waltz. They are trained by dance instructors of Art-Motion Club Alexander Sisekin and Valeriya Nepomnyashchaya, bronze medalists of the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat.

A fun-filled and mischievous dance, ‘Witches’ (Baba Yaga), performed by young dancers from Surprise Club (led by Anna Beglieva) left a lasting impression on the audience.

Dancers from Ellada Dance Club (led by Kristina Khristoforidi) and wheelchair dancers were greeted with enthusiastic applause from the vast assembled crowd.

A touching incident took place during one of the dances. Four little girls forgot their steps and stopped looking embarrassed. Then, one of them realized that the best way to cope with the situation was to walk offstage. On seeing that her fellow dancers kept standing motionless onstage, she returned and led them away. The audience burst into applause to support the upset debutantes. If there were a prize for quick wittedness, it would go to this smart little girl.

Dancers from Aquarelle Club (led by Elena Zmaga), who danced the fast-paced and energetic paso doble, quickly captured the viewers’ hearts.

The audience watched eagerly the slow waltz, expressive polka, lively Charleston, high-spirited samba and rhythmic salsa (performed by Dream and Smile Clubs, led by Irina Davidovich). It was the first ever big concert for many little dancers, and their childish excitement and sincerity charged the event with overwhelming emotions.

The spectacular and dazzling dance performances by representatives of the national school of dance sport, behind which are hard work and the pursuit of perfection, serve as a telling example and an invitation to hundreds of boys and girls to learn yet another language, which is so important for the harmonious personal development – the language of dance.
