TURKMEN-MALAYSIAN TOP LEVEL TALKS IN ASHGABAT ON OCTOBER 27

Prime Minister of Malaysia Mahathir Mohamad arrived in Ashgabat on an official visit.

Turkmen-Malaysian top level talks will take place in Ashgabat on October 27. On the outcomes of the talks, it is planned to sign a number of documents, aimed at strengthening the interstate dialogue.

The relations between Turkmenistan and Malaysia has successfully developed at the bilateral and multi-lateral level. The diplomatic relations between the two states were established on May 17, 1992.

All these years, the interstate cooperation has successfully developed based on the goodwill and mutual interest in widening the spheres of collaboration.

At present, the contractual legal framework of the partnership includes 28 documents signed at the interstate, intergovernmental and interdepartmental levels.

The both countries demonstrate the willingness to further strengthen mutually beneficial relations in the spheres of trade and economy, transport and industrial sector, as well as in the spheres of high technologies and other promising areas.

The fuel and energy sector, represented by a long-term business partner of our country – large Malaysian company Petronas, stands as a key area of the interstate cooperation.

It should be noted that enhancement of fruitful cooperation with the countries of the Asian-Pacific Region ranks among the priority areas of the foreign-policy course in Turkmenistan.
