OSCE PARLIAMENTARY ASSEMBLY HOLDS ITS FIRST-EVER MEETING IN ONLINE FORMAT

On February 26, Mejlis representatives participated in the online meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe. The first-ever virtual annual meeting brought together some 270 parliamentarians from 57 countries.   

Meeting participants exchanged opinions on a broad range of issues of international concern, in particular, peace and security building, conflict prevention and resolution, economic and environmental security amid the COVID-19 pandemic, gender equality, women’s economic empowerment, etc. 

Parliamentarians also discussed the summary report by the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Secretary General Roberto Montella on the Organization’s activities in 2020 and its near-term plans.
