The World Health Organization opens International Center of pandemics prevention and combating with support of the Government of Germany. High technologies and innovations will allow process statistic and analytical data, which, as it is planned, will come to Berlin from all over the world.

It was informed by German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Head of the World Health Organization Dr. Tedros Ghebreyesus at the press conference. The center will be opened this year, - the Press service of the UN says.

According to Angela Merkel, humankind is able to recover after the problems of global scale such as COVID-19 pandemics only together. She highlighted that the WHO is in the center of these efforts and success of decisions taken depends on the quality and quantity of initial data.

Dr. Tedros has noted that the pandemics revealed weak spots in the chain of gathering and processing of information. “The thing is that there are many viruses in nature, which potentially may cause epidemics and pandemics, - he said. – The viruses work fast but the information spreads even faster, having truthful information, the countries may forestall this”.

The center in Germany will be equipped with super computer, it will process received data in order to predict possible models of development of the events and give recommendations on their prevention.

The head of the WHO Program of Healthcare Emergency Situations Dr. Michael Rayan recognized that even the use of new technologies cannot recover the problems related to the lack of transparency and reporting. At the same time, he insists that detection of dangerous trends and timely measures are able to prevent many crises in healthcare sphere. It means that new center will be ‘a global system of early notification’, the participants of current press conference highlighted.
