ASHGABAT, BISHKEK, TASHKENT AND TEHRAN DISCUSS NEW RAILWAY COR

Heads of railway departments and diplomatic missions of Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Iran held online meeting to discuss the creation of a new railway corridor. The meeting was initiated by the Kyrgyz Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (KSPP).
The purpose of the new project is to organize container shipments to Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan through the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas and back.
According to preliminary calculations of experts, container transportation of goods from China, India and Southeast Asia through the port of Bandar Abbas will reduce the delivery time from 45 to 21 days. To test the effectiveness of the new corridor, the KSPP invited Kyrgyz businessmen to ship goods imported from China, India and Southeast Asian countries to Kyrgyzstan along the new route Bandar Abbas -Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan.
It should be noted that Turkmenistan has accumulated solid experience in creating and developing large transport, logistics and multimodal projects. Of particular importance in this aspect is the opening of the international railway Kazakhstan - Turkmenistan - Iran in 2014. Based on this railway, a new 10,000-km route China - Kazakhstan - Turkmenistan - Iran was created. This road is the first logistics solution in the high-speed delivery of goods from the coast of East China to the markets of the Persian Gulf.
