PJSC Gazprom plans to increase gas production by 11.7 percent up to 506.5 billion cubic meters in 2021. Russian media inform that it was said by Deputy Board Director of the Company Vitaly Markelov at the press conference. This is a record number of gas for the last ten years. It was decided to increase the production since gas storages in Russia and Europe are empty after cold winter.

According to the forecast, it is planned to produce 497 billion cubic meters of gas in 2021, however, this figures have been corrected. The plans have been changed after the first quarter of the year when it was produced 6.6 billion cubic meters more than it was planned initially, Kommersant writes.

Head Gazprom Department Sergey Menshikov added that the increment of production has been achieved by additional development of existing fields – putting of booster compressor stations into operation and increment of number of wells. The monopoly develops Kharasavey and Krusenstern Fields. Last time such volume of gas as it is planned to produce in 2021 was produced by Gazprom in 2011. Back then this figure was 513.2 billion cubic meters.

According to its gas strategy, Gazprom also plans to increase the import of gas from Central Asia including from Turkmenistan. Delivery of Turkmen gas is made based on five year contract for procurement of natural gas by Gazprom from the State Concern Turkmengaz in volume of 5.5 billion cubic meters until June 30, 2024.
