STATE HEALTH PROGRAMME: NEW BEGINNINGS FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PEOPLE

The first in 2021 meeting of the multidisciplinary interdepartmental group on health was held in the capital.

The event, organized with the aim to implement the new edition of the State Programme of the President of Turkmenistan "Health" brought together representatives of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of the country, the Mejlis of the National Council of Turkmenistan, individual ministries and sectoral departments, as well as heads and specialists of hospitals and clinics.

Those speaking during the meeting presented reports and presentations on the draft laws of Turkmenistan "On the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases", "On state support for families with many children". The aspects of the implementation of digital health systems, which are currently one of the main priorities, were also considered.

Meeting participants discussed innovations in the draft of the State Programme "Health". It was emphasized that the introductory chapter of the programme refers to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and their indicators.

The program includes new ideas - protecting the health of citizens at all stages of their lives, empowering them, improving the prevention and treatment of aging-associated diseases and launching a geriatric service.

In addition, the programme envisages the provision of palliative care for patients in need of long-term care. On the basis of gender equality, the new section "Men's health" includes the issues of developing genomic medicine and controlling men's health by andrologists. Also, the project of the approved type of the Programme included the increase in the vaccination.

On March 26, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov approved the new version of the State Healthcare Programme and the 2021-2025 Action Plan.

The main goal of the programme is to improve health and well-being of the population, increase the life expectancy of people, ensure comprehensive equal opportunities and conditions for health care of citizens, develop health care in accordance with international standards and develop innovative technologies, create a perfect and highly effective health care system based on advanced medical science and real experience.
