STEERING COMMITTEE OF THE JOINT PROGRAM FOR INCLUSIVE AND QUALITY SOCIAL SERVICES ABOUT REACHED SUCCESS
3rd session of the Steering Committee of the Joint Program of the Government of Turkmenistan and the UN for improvement of social protection system by introduction of inclusive qualitative social service on local level has been held. The meeting was held under joint chairing of Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Turkmenistan’s Population Muhammedseyid Sylapov and Acting Permanent Coordinator of the UN in Turkmenistan Christine Weygand.
In their greeting speeches, the co-chairmen of the Steering Committee have noted big progress achieved in the result of joint efforts of the partners. They have also expressed their hope that this program would promote the achievement of the Global Agenda for Sustainable Development until 2030.
In their turn, representatives of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan have informed members of the Steering Committee about activity for analysis of legislation carried out in the last 6 months for support of systematic changes. Experts of the Ministry of Education have presented long- and short-term strategies for increment of number of social service personnel in Turkmenistan in response to the system requirements.
The participants have also agreed on further actions for the next 6 months for successful completion of the program. In this regard, representatives of the UN agencies participating in the Joint Program highlighted the importance of cooperation with national partners to ensure that current efforts for development of social service on local level could become an integral part of the system of social protection of the country.
In addition, matters related to the opportunity to include social work specialists to the State budget and measures, which are to be taken for creation of financing of social services on local level, have been discussed.
In the end of the meeting, the participants have agreed on extension of the Joint Program for social services, which is sponsored by the UN SDGs Pooled Fund.
