MEETINGS WITH FOREIGN PARTNERS
Today, the Mejlis Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan has hosted a meeting with Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Hadi Soleimanpour.
As is generally known, Turkmenistan took over the chairmanship of the Economic Cooperation Organization this May. The meeting participants discussed the current state of affairs and key areas of cooperation within the ECO, and stressed the importance of boosting contacts through parliamentary diplomacy. Issues of parliamentary support for the regional cooperation in various fields also received special attention.

Today, a delegation of the Mejlis Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan took part in an online round-table entitled ‘The Role of Global and Regional Platforms and Coalitions in Enhancing Women’s Participation and Leadership in Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding’. The event was co-organized by the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the United Nations Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia.
The roundtable culminated in the adoption of a Joint Statement highlighting that one of the top-priorities of the Dialogue is developing effective ways to fully realize Central Asian women’s creative and peacebuilding potential and to exploit it in promoting peace and stability in the region.
