CARING FOR THE LAND RESPONDED WITH CROPS

Land reform in Turkmenistan has created favorable conditions for the development of the rural economy. The provision of land plots to agricultural producers for long-term use allowed not only to significantly increase the sown area, but also to increase the efficiency of work due to technological modernization and rationalization of water consumption. For six months of this year, the members of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan (UIET) have increased the volume of agricultural and food production by more than a third compared to the planned one. In just the first half of the year, the members of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs collected more than 150 thousand tons of agricultural products.

The export potential of private agricultural producers, specializing in growing various varieties of tomatoes and other crops in greenhouses, has grown significantly. Currently, dozens of greenhouses with a total area of 450 hectares have been built and put into operation in rural areas. By the end of the year, the number of operating farms will increase and will occupy about 600 hectares.

According to the agricultural department of the SPPT, in the spring season alone, the owners of greenhouse farms exported about 50 thousand tons of various varieties of tomatoes abroad - more than in the entire 2020. According to experts, by the end of the year, the volume of exports of tomatoes from Turkmenistan will double compared to last year.

Our exporter growers have begun to expand into the markets of the European Union. About 20 tons of fresh tomatoes were sent to Austria for the first time. The products of Turkmen vegetable growers are recognized as meeting European standards. By the end of the year, it is planned to export about 60 tons of fresh tomatoes to Western countries.

The country's farmers last year increased the acreage for mung bean - a plant of the legume family. More than one hundred agricultural producers - members of the UIET participated in the experiment “Mäş Taslamasy”. In particular, entrepreneurs of the Akhal, Lebap and Dashoguz velayats, who have successful experience in growing mung bean on their private plots, have become major producers and suppliers of this food crop for the first time. Farms and private producers harvested over seven thousand tons of green beans from the sown area, thereby not only providing a supply for domestic consumption, but also for the first time exported more than six thousand tons of legumes to neighboring countries.

Our farmers are not limited to the cultivation of traditional vegetables and grains. A number of entrepreneurs started breeding capers. During the period of long flowering, the caper is covered with large flowers of rare beauty.

Several Turkmen companies began to specialize in the cultivation of the paulownia tree, which is common in the Far East and Southeast Asia. The tree reaches a height of 15-20 meters with a wide crown and large single-cut leaves, after six years it gives about one and a half cubic meters of soft and light ornamental wood. It is used to make musical instruments, furniture, small crafts, cutting boards, as well as alpine skis and snowboards. Delicious honey is collected from the flowers of this tree. The entrepreneurs have prepared hundreds of thousands of seedlings for planting. As early as next year, plant breeders of Turkmenistan will expand the area for this crop and plant about a million trees.

On large areas of leased land, entrepreneurs grow mulberry trees, the green mass of which will later be used for breeding silkworms. Hundreds of hectares have been allocated for intensive fruit orchards, which begin to bear fruit much faster than traditional ones: in the second year they give a small harvest, and in the third year they begin to bear fruit fully.
