WORLD BANK TO PROVIDE LOAN TO TURKMENISTAN TO COUNTER COVID-19

Turkmenistan will attract a loan from the World Bank in the amount of US $ 20 million to counter the pandemic. The corresponding decision was made by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan via video link.

At the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Serdar Berdimuhamedov reported on the progress of work on obtaining loans in the amount of 20 million US dollars under the World Bank's COVID-19 Countermeasures Project

In this regard, proposals for concluding a Loan Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development of the World Bank Group, a “Results Delivery Agreement” between the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan and the United Nations Development Program, and also the draft Resolution “On obtaining a loan for the health care system of Turkmenistan under the project “Counteracting COVID-19”.

Having signed the relevant Resolution, the Turkmen leader noted that the funds received from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development should be used for the diagnosis and prevention of coronavirus infection, in particular, for the purchase of the necessary technical means, medicines and medical equipment, including reagents and syringes for injection.
