BRONZE OF A TURKMEN CHESS PLAYER
The other day in Serbia ended an international tournament organized by the Serbian Chess Federation - International OPEN "Paracin 2021". Chess players from different countries competed in two categories - in "A" the strongest athletes fought for prizes, and in "B" - amateurs of this sport.
The Turkmen chess player Meilis Annaberdiyev took part in the international festival in category “A” among 180 athletes from forty countries. They played according to the Swiss system in 9 rounds. Meilis won six games, drew two and suffered one defeat. Thus, he earned 7 out of 9 possible points.
As a result, the Ashgabat sportsman M. Annaberdiev won the bronze medal of the tournament. Moreover, a chess player from India, who became a silver medalist, came out ahead in additional indicators, having also earned 7 points, and the leader of the tournament, from Azerbaijan, scored half a point more (7.5).
It should be noted that M. Annaberdiev is an international chess master, multiple prize-winner of international tournaments, including the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, where he won bronze, a multiple champion of our country, a member of the national team of Turkmenistan and a graduate of the Specialized Chess drafts school in Ashgabat. Meilis continues the tradition of the family. He grew up in the Annaberdiyev dynasty of chess players. The first teacher was his father - FIDE master Bayram Annaberdiev, and later brother Serdar - the honored coach of Turkmenistan.
Now Meilis is a legionnaire in the city of Mersin (Turkey), where he successfully performs under a contract in the top league of Turkey.
