MEDALS OF TURKMEN SCHOOLCHILDREN AT THE INTERNATIONAL MATHEMATICAL OLYMPIAD
Schoolchildren from Turkmenistan - Nagim Tanrygulyev, Mukhammetmurad Gochmuradov, Jennet Zamanova - won bronze medals at the 62nd International Mathematical Olympiad, which was held in St. Petersburg from July 14 to 24.
Nagim Tanrygulyev and Jennet Zamanova scored a total of 14 points, and Mukhammetmurad Gochmuradov - 12 points.
Didar Gaipov, Emir Vellekov as members of the Turkmen national team were awarded certificates of honor. The team also included Khadzhimuhammed Atayev.
The leader in the number of awards was the Chinese team, followed by Russia.
The participants were congratulated by the Vice-Governor of St. Petersburg Irina Potekhina, President of the International Mathematical Olympiad Jeff Smith, Chairman of the IMO 21 jury Nazar Agakhanov, as well as the world famous mathematician, Field Prize laureate Stanislav Smirnov.
“Today mathematicians play one of the key roles in the invention of weapons against the new coronavirus infection,” stressed Irina Potekhina.
It should be noted that this year over 600 contestants from 107 countries of the world came to the International Mathematical Olympiad.
