HAMMER THROWER FROM TURKMENISTAN PERFORMED AT THE TOKYO OLYMPICS

At the ongoing XXXII Summer Olympics in Tokyo, hammer throwers competed for medals. Turkmenistan in this type of program, in which 31 athletes participate, was represented by a 30-year-old master of sports of international class from Ashgabat Mergen Mammadov.

In his best attempt in qualifying, the only representative of Turkmenistan in the track and field Olympic program threw a projectile 67.53 meters, falling short of his personal record of 6.48 meters.

Mergen Mammadov participates in the Olympic Games for the second time. At his first Olympics nine years ago in London, he showed a result of 68.39 meters.

At the Games in Tokyo, Wojciech Nowicki (Poland) was the best in qualification - 79.78 meters.

The winner of the 2020 Olympics in hammer throw will be determined on August 4 based on the results of the performance of 12 finalists.
