TURKMEN-TAJIK RELATIONS REACHES NEW LEVEL OF DEVELOPMENT

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov arrived in the Balkan velayat on a working visit to participate in the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of Central Asian States, which will be held in the Avaza National Tourist Zone on August 6.

In the morning, the Turkmen leader arrived to the Ashgabat International Airport, where the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, who is in Turkmenistan on a state visit, arrived later.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov warmly and cordially greeted the distinguished guest.

The heads of the two fraternal states headed to the VIP-hall of the Ashgabat International Airport. Within the framework of a conversation over a cup of tea, the leaders of Turkmenistan and Tajikistan discussed the issues of the further development of Turkmen-Tajik relations that have reached new levels, as well as the vectors of the practical implementation of the agreements, achieved on the outcomes of the top-level talks in Ashgabat.

The Presidents of Turkmenistan and Tajikistan continued their conversation on the board of the airplane on the way to the Balkan velayat, where the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of Central Asian States and other international events are scheduled to be held.

During the conversation, the parties discussed the main areas of bilateral cooperation, taking into account the priorities of the socio-economic development of the two states at the new historical stage, and also identified specific steps for the practical implementation of the agreements reached earlier.

Particular attention was paid to the possibilities of joining the efforts in order to actively use the potential of the regions of the two countries.

The airplane of the President of Turkmenistan landed at the International Airport of Turkmenbashi, where the leaders of the two states were cordially welcomed.

Then the President of Tajikistan proceeded to the International Seaport of Turkmenbashi, where he got acquainted with its work and prospects of development.

Familiarizing with the seaport infrastructure, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan visited the ferry, passenger and container terminals.

President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon highly evaluated the level of technological infrastructure of the “sea gates” of Turkmenistan, focusing on good opportunities for establishing productive partnership with foreign states that meet mutual interests.
