COOPERATION OF TURKMENISTAN AND UNFPA ON THE COMPREHENSIVE POPULATION CENSUS AND HOUSING CENSUS

In 2022 the comprehensive population census and housing census will be held in Turkmenistan.

At the past meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan via digital system the logo and slogan of census were approved.

Thus, it will be held under the slogan – “The population census 2022: Solidarity, Happiness, Bright future”. The State flag, white yurta, gyols of Turkmen carpet and figure “2022”, which represents a year of its holding, are shown on the logo of the population census and housing census.

The United Nations Population Fund is one of the leading agencies which provide an emergency expert and engineering assistance to Turkmenistan in holding of the population census and housing census 2022. Within the framework of cooperation with UNFPA, the State Committee on Statistics received the special equipment, for example servers for data collection.

The equipment was financed by the Government of Turkmenistan.

The population census plays the central role in the official statistics systems, providing the reliable assessment of population at the national and administrative-territorial levels. In addition to the provision of exact data on the population structure by age and sex at the national and local level, in many countries there are many sections which rely exclusively on the census data.

When the housing census is held together with the population census, the information is also collected on the type of housing of population, its characteristics and conveniences availability.
