«ENERGY DIPLOMACY OF TURKMENISTAN» IS THE MAIN TOPIC OF THE INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR

International best practices in developing strategies and promoting energy diplomacy in the oil and gas sector were the focus of an OSCE-hosted online seminar on 21-22 October 2021.

Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Energy, the state concerns Turkmengaz and Turkmenneft, the Ministry of Finance and Economy, higher educational institutions and other relevant bodies of Turkmenistan took part in the seminar, the "GA" correspondent was told at the OSCE Center in Ashgabat.

Two international experts from the Russian Federation presented priorities in the energy sector, analyzed global and regional trends, and highlighted the relationship between international energy security and sustainable development in the oil and gas sector.

Opening the meeting, John McGregor, Head of the OSCE Center in Ashgabat, said: "Energy diplomacy is the newest functional area of modern diplomacy. In recent years, its role has steadily increased in the energy sector and serves as a tool for lobbying political and economic interests of states in the international arena."

“That is why energy security issues are one of the main priorities of global and national politics and require constructive interstate dialogue and effective cooperation,” he added.

The event marks the continuation of the OSCE Center's energy security cooperation with the host country, part of which is support for the development and implementation of the Turkmenistan Energy Diplomacy Development Program for 2021-2025.

«Energy diplomacy of Turkmenistan» is the main topic of the international seminar
