EXPERTS OF CIS COUNTRIES DISCUSSED A COOPERATION IN SEED SECTOR

The 23rd meeting of the CIS Intergovernmental Coordination Council on seed issues completed in Samarkand.

The representatives of the Commonwealth member-states, including from Turkmenistan, the delegates of the CIS Executive Committee, of the Production-Scientific seed farming association («Semena» Association) took part there.

In the course of the meeting the participants discussed the issues of the professional personnel training, in particular, grade testers, crop breeders, seed growers, geneticists, engineers, discussed the achievements in the development of new methods of selection and cotton seed farming, as well as the perspectives of use of the botanical gardens and planting of greenery in the rural settlements, small and large cities.

Besides, it was proposed to create the Среднеазиатского selection – seed-growing and technological center on the basis of the plant under construction – the branch of the АО «Schelkovo Agrohim» in Samarkand region. It will allow to create a powerful selection – seed-growing and technological industry, involving in this work a network of the selection centers of the CIS member-states, enterprises producing the plant protection agents, different mineral and organic fertilizers.

The 24th meeting of the Council is planned to held in Tajikistan.
