HEAD OF THE OSCE CENTRE IN ASHGABAT: FUTURE TURKMEN DIPLOMATS BETTER UNDERSTAND THE PROSPECTS OF THE NEGOTIATION PROCESS

The head of the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat stressed the importance of holding of international online lecture series supports training of future diplomats in Turkmenistan.

«These lectures will provide future diplomats with a deeper understanding of the perspectives of the negotiation process, which is critical in conflict prevention and resolution. In addition, students will further improve their knowledge of the role of women in peace building processes, which is also another OSCE commitment to advance and supporting the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on women, peace and security in the OSCE region» – said John McGregor, Head of the OSCE Center in Ashgabat.

A series of international online lectures for future diplomats in Turkmenistan ended in Ashgabat, the «Golden Age» correspondent was told at the OSCE Center in Ashgabat.

The five-day lecture series follows on from many years of OSCE project work on issues such as neutrality, negotiation, women in diplomacy, the "art" of being a diplomat, and inclusive participation in building peace and security.

The lectures were attended by teachers and students of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the International University for Humanities and Development.

This set of lectures was delivered by high-ranking career diplomats from Belarus, Moldova and the USA. In the first course of lectures, examples of leading international negotiation schools were presented, similarities and differences were indicated, and the secrets of achieving effective results in the course of the negotiation process were revealed. The second part of the lecture series discussed how women diplomats can positively contribute to various issues and how they can overcome difficulties, as well as the importance of promoting gender equality and the increased participation of women in foreign policy.
