THE PRESIDENT OF TURKMENISTAN RECEIVED THE NEWLY APPOINTED AMBASSADOR EXTRAORDINARY AND PLENIPOTENTIARY OF THE UNITED KINGDOM OF GREAT BRITAIN AND NORTHERN IRELAND TO TURKMENISTAN

Today, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has received the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Turkmenistan Ms. Lucia Wilde, who handed the head of the state her credentials.

Having expressed her gratitude for the given time to meet, the diplomat conveyed to the Turkmen leader the warm greetings of the Queen Elizabeth II and Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who attach a great significance for the strengthening of traditionally friendly relations with independent neutral Turkmenistan.

As the Ambassador noted, it is a great honour for her to represent the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in our country, which is famous all over the world for its progressive foreign policy based on the status of permanent neutrality and constructive initiatives aimed at development of wide international cooperation.

Having thanked for her kind words and having conveyed his greetings in return to the Queen and Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov confirmed adherence of Turkmenistan to the all-round strengthening of relations built on principles of equality, mutual respect and mutual benefits both in the bilateral format and within the framework of authoritative international organizations.

Having congratulated the diplomat with her appointment to the responsible post and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries, the head of Turkmenistan wished Ms. Lucia Wilde great successes in her activity to strengthen traditional Turkmen-British cooperation, noting the significance of its diversification, which answers priorities of development of two countries.

In the meeting, views of a wide range of issues concerning intensification of cooperation in a number of areas, including political and diplomatic, trade and economic, cultural, humanitarian, and environmental spheres, were exchanged.

The establishment of new international transportation routes in the Eurasian continent became a topic of heightened attention. In this connection, it was underlined that transport diplomacy, one of the authors of which our country acted and initiated a multilateral dialogue on the given problem within the framework of the UN and other authoritative international organizations, obtains more and more a strong confirmation in global cooperation.

In the course of the conversation, aspiration of two countries to the strengthening of partnership in such strategic areas as environmental protection, adaptation to the climate change, diversification and digitization of economy, support to the private sector and others was confirmed.

Confirming the mutual commitment of two countries aimed at intensification of fruitful relations, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the plenipotentiary representative outlined priority areas of cooperation. The fuel and energy, trade and economy, power energy, processing manufacture, agriculture and many other spheres were designated as key areas.

At the end of the meeting, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Ms. Lucia Wilde expressed confidence that interstate cooperation relying upon mutual goodwill will be further developed dynamically and complimented concretely.
