THE HEAD OF STATE EXPRESSED CONFIDENCE IN THE SUCCESS OF THE WINTER OLYMPICS IN BEIJING
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence in the success of the XXIV Winter Olympic Games in Beijing on February 4. The head of Turkmenistan stated this while speaking on the digital system at the Summit on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the countries of Central Asia.
The President of Turkmenistan said: “Very soon, China will host the Winter Olympics. I am sure that they will be held at the highest level and will become a real celebration of sports, peace and friendship for millions of people around the world. I wish our Chinese friends success in holding the upcoming Olympics; I congratulate all the Chinese people on this great event.”
Beijing will be the first city in the world to host both the 2008 Summer Olympics and the upcoming Winter Games.
The XXIV Winter Olympic Games, in which 109 sets of medals in 7 sports (15 disciplines) will be played, will be held from February 4 to 20, 2022.
On January 6 this year, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China Qian Naicheng presented President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who is the head of the National Olympic Committee of Turkmenistan, with an official invitation from President Xi Jinping to take part in the opening ceremony of the XXIV Winter Olympic Games.
