THE AMBASSADOR OF BELARUS SPOKE ABOUT THE DEVELOPMENT OF BELARUSIAN-TURKMEN COOPERATION
Ambassador of Belarus to Turkmenistan Vyacheslav Beskosty held a briefing in Ashgabat on preparations for the Republican referendum on amendments and additions to the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus.
In his speech, the Belarusian plenipotentiary paid special attention to topical issues of the development of Belarusian-Turkmen relations. According to him, in January 2023 the parties will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, and the legal framework of cooperation developed over the years of independence includes more than 100 agreements of various levels.
The diplomat noted that Ashgabat and Minsk are successfully cooperating in the international arena, providing mutual support within the framework of the UN. In addition, a mutually beneficial trade and economic partnership is a priority area of bilateral cooperation. According to the Belarusian ambassador, the Turkmen market traditionally has a wide range of food products, Belarusian medicines, supplies of car tires, batteries, woodworking products and other goods.
In turn, Belarus imports oil products, textile products, dishes, plastic household items, etc. from Turkmenistan.
The contribution to the expansion of the commodity range of mutual deliveries is made by the work of the national trading houses established in Ashgabat and Minsk.
According to the ambassador, Belarusian-Turkmen humanitarian ties are also actively developing. The diplomat stressed in this regard that more than 8,000 citizens of Turkmenistan study in Belarusian educational institutions. The Ambassador also expressed his sincere hope that after the end of the pandemic, the good tradition of holding the Days of Culture will be revived.
