PRESIDENT OF TUKMENISTAN GURBANGULY BERDIMUHAMEDOV SENT A MESSAGE TO UN GENERAL SECRETARY ANTÓNIO GUTERRES

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov sent a message to UN General Secretary António Guterres on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's admission to the United Nations. «March 2, 1992 is a significant date in the modern history of Turkmenistan, marked by the admission of our country to the United Nations. Over the past 30 years, Turkmenistan has established fruitful and effective cooperation with the UN, which, in our opinion, remains an indispensable international Organization serving for the benefit of all mankind», - says in the message of the Turkmen leader.

According to the head of state, is very indicative the unanimous adoption by the UN General Assembly on December 12, 1995 of the Resolution «Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan», which approved the unique international legal status for the Turkmen state - the first in world practice.

Gurbanguly Burdimuhamedov noted that this Resolution predetermined the direction and content of Turkmenistan's foreign policy, rendered a powerful positive impact on ensuring regional stability, stimulating internal development and implementing large-scale national programs in the economy.

«As a result of our close cooperation, in 2007, the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia was opened in Ashgabat, designed to stimulate political dialogue in the region, taking into account the political and legal mechanism developed by the UN and using the potential of Turkmenistan's neutrality», - emphasized the President. According to him, over the years, from the high rostrum of the UN, Turkmenistan has put forward a number of initiatives in such strategic areas of global development as energy security, transport cooperation, ecology and many others aimed at ensuring sustainable development and improving the well-being of mankind.

In this regard, the head of state expressed sincere gratitude to all states for the support and acceptance of Turkmen initiatives, as well as words of gratitude to all employees of the UN Secretariat for fruitful work. «For Turkmenistan, partnership with the UN will always be a strategic priority in our activities in the international arena. Turkmenistan is firmly committed to cooperation with the UN and its specialized agencies, active participation in political and diplomatic efforts in the name of preserving peace, overcoming the consequences of the pandemic, implementing programs in the economic, environmental, humanitarian and other fields», - declared the Turkmen leader.

In conclusion, the President of Turkmenistan wished the UN General Secretary good health and great new achievements in responsible international activities.
