The national team of Turkmenistan will be represented by 20 hockey players at the world championship starting on April 3 in Luxembourg in the third division of group A.

As the chairman of the Hockey Federation of Turkmenistan, Jora Khudaiberdyev, told the ZV correspondent, the national team included 17 players from the Galkan club of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, including both goalkeepers - Karimli Charyev and Rahman Muradov. HC "Shir" is represented by two hockey players - defender Ovezguly Esenov and forward Arslan Amanov, and the club "Oguzhan" - by defender Nikita Avdeev.

In total, the delegation of Turkmenistan, leaving for Luxembourg, consists of 26 people, including 6 officials, including coaches and the medical staff of the team.

Turkmen hockey players will fly to the 2022 World Championship on April 2 from Ashgabat International Airport on a flight to Frankfurt am Main. Upon arrival in Germany, our team will take a bus to Luxembourg, where on April 3 they will play their opening match against the UAE team. On April 5, Turkmen hockey players will play with the owners of the ice rink - the Luxembourgers, on April 7 - with rivals from Taiwan and will end the tournament on April 8 with a game with the Turkish team.

Only the winner of the tournament in Luxembourg will receive a ticket to the 2023 World Cup of the second division of group B.

The Ice Hockey World Championship is held in several divisions depending on the ranking of the teams.

The upcoming world championship in Luxembourg will be the second in the history of Turkmen hockey. In 2019, our compatriots, making their debut at the World Championships in Sofia (Bulgaria), took third place in the third division among 6 teams that represented Europe, Asia and Africa. The team was led to this achievement by the head coach Bayram Allayarov, under whose leadership our hockey players won small gold medals in the second division tournament in the program of the VIII Asian Winter Games in Sapporo (Japan) in 2017, and won in Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina) in 2018 Qualifying tournament for the World Cup with the participation of four teams.
