NEW LITERATURE IN FOREIGN LANGUAGES

The Department of Literature in Foreign Languages, which is part of the State Library of the State Cultural Center of Turkmenistan has been replenished with editions of domestic book production translated into English.

Among the novelties are the literary works of Arkadag - "The Bright Path to Prosperity", "Medicinal Plants of Turkmenistan XIII volume", the publication "The 15th summit of the economic cooperation organization" and a collection of speeches "Interviews given by the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the international mass media".

Also, at the moment, in the foreign department of the library, an exhibition of books in Turkish, donated by the Turkish Embassy in Turkmenistan, has been launched.

The Department of Foreign Languages has been a part of the State Library since 1956. For more than half a century, the department has maintained contact with foreign embassies and cultural organizations in order to promote the development of international cultural cooperation.

The treasury of the department includes a variety of literature - encyclopedias, books and teaching aids on the study of foreign languages, periodicals on art, culture, politics, economics and other areas. The fund of the foreign department stores books in more than 50 languages of the world - English, German, Arabic, French, Turkish, Chinese, Japanese, Persian, Urdu, Pashto, Hebrew, Esperanto. Including rare Asian languages and many others.

The uniqueness of the department is also in the fact that the duties of the staff include scientific substantiation of the fund and effective use of publications in foreign languages. Employees complete the collection of the department, process publications in foreign languages, enter information about them in the electronic catalog, store the department's fund, serve readers, and conduct mass information events.

“Our department is very popular among students of higher educational institutions of the country,” says Yulia Ishchenko, head of the Department of Literature in Foreign Languages of the State Library of the State Cultural Center of Turkmenistan. – Many people come here to study, enriching their knowledge with additional sources of information. On the shelves you can find many books and periodicals covering the life of Turkmenistan. The department maintains a thematic card index “Turkmenika”, a bibliographic index “Turkmenistan in the domestic periodical press in English” is being created. The index is based on periodicals held in the library, such as: the newspaper "Neutral Turkmenistan", the magazines "Miras", "Diýýar", "Demokratiýa we hukuk", "Medeniýet we Syýahat ", "Standart, hil we howpsuzlyk", “Türkmenistanyň lukmançylygy”, etc.

Among the special teaching aids provided by the department there are audiovisual materials (audio, video cassettes, CDs, DVDs, recordings) to enrich linguistic knowledge, to study foreign languages qualitatively, to travel by correspondence around the world, for a deeper study of the history, culture and art of foreign countries.

The library is open seven days a week and lunch breaks. Visiting hours on weekdays from 9 am to 7 pm. Saturday and Sunday until 5pm.
