THE NEXT ISSUE OF THE JOURNAL "PROBLEMS OF DESERT DEVELOPMENT" HAS BEEN PUBLISHED

For 55 years already, since 1967, the International Scientific and Practical Journal “Problems of Desert Development” has been published in Turkmenistan. This is one of the few publications in the world that highlights the most important results of scientific research in the field of combating desertification and practical experience in the development of arid lands. In different years, original scientific and scientific-practical materials of famous scientists - desert explorers from many countries of the world were published on the pages of the journal. The publication was financially supported by such international structures as UNEP, GTZ, UNDP and FAO.

The latest issue of the journal “Problems of Desert Development” for 2022 published scientific articles by Turkmen scientists, including the works of: Durikov M.Kh., Nepesova M.D. “Combating land degradation in Turkmenistan”, Ovezberyeva A. “Integration of agriculture and water management of Turkmenistan into climate change adaptation plans”, Evzhanova X., Garryeva, A., Begmyradova O. “Prospects for the integrated use of mineralized groundwater”, Penjieva A.M., Nazarova S.G. "Influence of wind load on the operation of solar power plants in the Karakum", Akmuradova A.A., Gadamova D.G., Berdieva B.R. "Medicinal raw materials of some types of polynyas of the Central Kopetdag" and others.

Brief reports published in the journal are devoted to scientific and applied research in various regions of Turkmenistan. These are the works of S.A. Redzhepov. "Water-physical and chemical properties of sands in the Turkmen Derya zone", Bushmakina A.G. "Metallogenic potential of thermal waters of Cheleken", Agaeva L.A., Bayramova I.A. "Regional changes in the territory of the Dashoguz velayat in connection with technogenesis" and others. Not only scientific, but also practical importance are reports on the following topics: phytomeliorative crop rotations on saline soils, prospects for studying mulberry insect pests, and the use of systemic insecticides in arid zones.

The materials of the journal “Problems of Desert Development” No. 1-2 / 2022 end with congratulations on the 60th anniversary of the Director of the National Institute of Deserts, Flora and Fauna of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan, Candidate of Biological Sciences Pirli Azhdarovich Kepbanov. His colleagues briefly spoke about the career of a scientist and his many-sided activities, noting that he has published numerous articles in scientific journals, manuals and textbooks, that his speeches in the media, in schools, in various environmental organizations always arouse interest and find a wide public resonance.
