TURKMENISTAN WELCOMES THE HOLDING OF THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON AFGHANISTAN IN TASHKENT

In his speech at the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov covered various aspects of ensuring regional and global security, calling joint work in the Afghan direction the most important part of cooperation between the Central Asian countries. As the head of the Turkmen state said, “We, as the neighboring states of Afghanistan, which have special historical ties with it, need to continue to step up efforts aimed at stabilizing the situation in this country, creating conditions for achieving national agreement through peaceful dialogue, promoting international efforts to combat terrorism, rendering economic and humanitarian assistance to the people of Afghanistan”. In this context, support was expressed for holding the International Conference on Afghanistan in Tashkent.

An international conference on Afghanistan with the participation of delegations from more than 20 countries and international organizations will be held in Tashkent on July 25-26. The main goal of the event is to develop a set of measures and proposals for the approaches of the world community to promote stability, security, post-conflict reconstruction in Afghanistan and its integration into regional cooperation processes in the interests of the multinational Afghan people and the whole world.

The forum will be a logical continuation of the Tashkent International High-Level Conference on Afghanistan "Peace Process, Security Cooperation and Regional Interoperability" (March 27, 2018) and the Tashkent International High-Level Conference "Central and South Asia: Regional Connectivity. Challenges and Opportunities" (15 -16 July 2021).
