THE TEAM OF TURKMENISTAN WENT TO THE VII INTERNATIONAL SPORTS GAMES "CHILDREN OF ASIA"

Today, from Ashgabat International Airport, in transit through Moscow, the team of Turkmenistan went to the VII International Sports Games "Children of Asia", which will be held from July 27 to August 8 in Vladivostok among athletes aged 13-16.

As the correspondent of GA was informed in the Ministry of Sports and Youth Policy, the delegation of Turkmenistan consists of 85 people, including 62 athletes, 16 coaches, 1 basketball referee, as well as representatives of sports teams and officials.

It is expected that the Games will be attended by representatives of 15 countries, as well as eight regions of Russia, who will compete for 273 sets of medals in 19 sports.

Athletes of Turkmenistan will take part in nine sports - 3x3 basketball, boxing, kurash wrestling, athletics, table tennis, swimming, sambo, wrestling (Greco-Roman and freestyle) and archery.

The day before, in the assembly hall of the Ministry of Sports and Youth Policy of Turkmenistan, a solemn farewell ceremony for our team to the VII International Sports Games "Children of Asia" took place. During the event, representatives of the older generation and the general sports community admonished the athletes before the important starts of the year, wishing them to increase the country's sports authority at the upcoming Games.

The International Sports Games "Children of Asia" have been held every four years since 1996. They were organized to mark the 100th anniversary of the modern Olympic Movement on the initiative of the first President of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Mikhail Nikolaev.

The purpose of the Games "Children of Asia" is to promote the ideas of the Olympic movement, the development of children's and youth sports and the strengthening of international sports cooperation. The motto of the Games: "From friendship in sports to peace on Earth" and "Children of Asia - the beginning of victories."

In 2012, the international organization UNESCO announced its patronage of the Games.

The first six Games were held in Yakutsk. The seventh was planned in 2020 in Ulaanbaatar (Mongolia), but due to the pandemic did not take place. And now Vladivostok is hosting the 7th Games.

It is already known that the VIII Summer International Sports Games "Children of Asia" will be held in 2024 in Yakutsk.

The team of Turkmenistan has been participating in the Children of Asia Games since 2008.
