Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan participated in the fourth meeting of the Central Asia-India Dialogue

On June 6, 2025, in the framework of his visit to the Republic of India, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov took part in the fourth session of the Central Asia-India Dialogue.
During the meeting, the foreign ministers discussed promising areas of multilateral cooperation and issues of enhancing the effectiveness of economic interaction, including in mutual trade, investment, industry, as well as strengthening transport connectivity with India.
It was stated that diplomatic interaction within this mechanism of multilateral cooperation is aimed at promoting the culture of interstate dialog and strengthening mutually beneficial partnership on issues of global and regional agenda.
The Turkmen Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized that Turkmenistan actively promotes trade-economic and investment integration, initiates major infrastructural and logistical projects. In this regard, special attention was paid to the relevance of the ongoing economic projects aimed at strengthening the connectivity between the Central Asian region and India, among which the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project holds a special place.
In addition, the subject of developing the transport-transit potential of Central Asian countries and India, including the promotion of joint initiatives to create regional and international transport corridors, was discussed.
Touching upon regional security, it was stated that the neutral status of Turkmenistan is an effective instrument of peacekeeping, strengthening security and stability on the regional and global level.
In the context of expanding cooperation in the areas of innovative technologies, digitalization, biotechnology and nanotechnology, it was proposed to explore the possibility of creating a Joint Program of Technological and Scientific Cooperation between Central Asia and India with a focus on educational exchanges, joint research, support for start-ups, as well as introducing innovations into production.
The importance of cooperation in healthcare, pharmaceuticals and scientific research was emphasized.
At the end of the meeting, it was noted that in the current global environment, uniting the political and diplomatic potential of Central Asia countries and India, including joint opportunities contributes to the resolution of global and regional issues and can become a positive factor in ensuring long-term political stability, economic sustainability and maintaining a balanced approach to common interests.
At the end of the fourth meeting of the Central Asia-India Dialogue, a Joint Statement was adopted.
