President of Turkmenistan received the сredentials of the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Korea

On April 15, 2026, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Turkmenistan Lee Won-jae, who presented his credentials to the Head of State.

Expressing sincere gratitude for the opportunity to meet in person, the diplomat noted that the Republic of Korea highly values the trust-based relations established with Turkmenistan. Taking the opportunity, the Ambassador conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from the President of the Republic of Korea, Lee Jae-myung, to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Hero-Arkadag.

Congratulating Lee Won-jae on his appointment to the high diplomatic post, the Head of State wished him great success in his work aimed at further developing bilateral relations.

Conveying warm greetings and best wishes in return to President Lee Jae-myung, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that Turkmenistan attaches great importance to strengthening friendly ties with the Republic of Korea.

It was noted that the two countries are effectively cooperating both bilaterally and within the framework of authoritative international organizations, above all the United Nations. Taking the opportunity, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov wished success to the Central Asia–Republic of Korea Cooperation Forum scheduled to be held in September this year.

It was emphasized that the Republic of Korea is an important economic partner of Turkmenistan. Productive cooperation has been established with leading Korean companies, in particular with Daewoo, which is implementing major projects in the chemical industry of the country.

The Ambassador expressed gratitude to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov for creating favorable conditions for the effective operation of Korean companies in Turkmenistan.

During the meeting, the important role of cultural and humanitarian ties in strengthening interstate dialogue and promoting mutual cultural enrichment was also emphasized. It was noted that the King Sejong Korean Language Education Center is successfully operating in Ashgabat.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the diplomat assured that he would make every effort to further strengthen the friendly relations between the Republic of Korea and Turkmenistan.
