KURBAN BERDYEV CELEBRATED HIS BIRTHDAY

On August 25th, Kurban Bekievich Berdyev celebrated his birthday. The famous football coach was born in 1952 in Ashgabat. During the years of his playing career, Kurban Berdyev played as a midfielder and sometimes a defender.

He started playing football in 1959 in Ashgabat. He played for such teams as Kolkhozchi, SKA (Rostov-on-Don) and Rostselmash. In 1993-1994 he was a footballer of FC Kairat. In total, he played 175 matches for the “yellow-blacks” and scored 34 goals.

He began his coaching career at the Kazakh football club “Khimik”. Then he became an assistant to Bakhtiyar Baiseitov in the Kazakhstani professional football club “Kairat”, with which they led the team to the first champion title. After “Kairat” he left to coach the Turkish “Genclerbirligi”, but in 1994 he returned to the Almaty team, this time as a head coach.

A year later, he left the team, and during his subsequent coaching career he headed such teams as the Kazakh football club Munayshy, the Turkmen professional football club Nisa, the Russian professional football club from Kazan, Rubin, and the Russian football club from Rostov-Don “Rostov”.

With the above teams he won championships, cups and super cups of Turkmenistan and Russia. As a coach of Rostov and Rubin, he repeatedly beat top European teams in various continental tournaments.

Since May 27, 2021, Kurban Bekievich Berdyev has worked as an advisor to the chairman of the supervisory board of FC Kairat.

From August 24, 2021, he was appointed head coach of FC Kairat.
