GERMAN MUSICIANS MAKE CHRISTMAS GIFT TO ASHGABAT MUSIC LOVERS

According to tradition, the Embassy of Germany to Turkmenistan together with the Ministry of Culture of our country organize new your musical event for Ashgabat residents and guests of the capital in the beginning of December. This year, opera singers from Germany Jannette and Tomas Ender and concertmaster Johannes Eichhorn took part in Christmas concert, which was held in Magtumguly Music and Drama Theatre. Margarethe Ubber, the Ambassador of Germany, said in her greeting speech that this celebration event is made to introduce Turkmenistan citizens to the atmosphere of German Christmas.

The concert was opened by symphonic orchestra of Dangatar Ovezov Special Music College directed by Eziz Jumaniyazov. Students professionally performed Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Symphony No. 40, which is one of the best in art heritage of Austrian composer.

Opera singers from Dresden performed the compositions of Peter Cornelius and Max Rigger emotionally and masterly. It included “Christmas Tree”, “Shepherds”, “Kings”, “Mary’s Lullaby”, “Christ, the Child” and other. Tender melody of compositions and ringing colour of vocal as well as chandelier with candles and decorated Christmas tree highlighted the atmosphere of the celebration.

The final of the concert was impressive. Turkmen singer Nury Nuriyev performed famous German song “Quiet Christmas Night” with the guests. German – Turkmen trio was excellent – baritone, soprano and tenor merged together at some points and shaded each other inother time. the audience thanked the performers with storm of applauses. Concertmaster Johannes Eichhorn and conductor Eziz Jumaniyazov went out to bow to the audience together with vocalists.

Jannette Ender told in the interview to our newspaper that Germany has special repertoire of Christmas compositions, which also includes the music from the ballets “The Nutcracker” and “The Sleeping Beauty” by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky as well as oratorio of Johann Sebastian Bach.

Answering the question why they have included the performance of students of the college rather than professional musicians, Jannette and Tomas Ender said that this is German cultural traditions when children prepare family concerts, as Christmas is more children celebration rather than adults. Concert stages of big German cities present children chorus. For example, 200 children will take part in the concert in Brussels. We are happy that beginning musicians take part in our concert with the professionals. We will go to Mary from Ashgabat where we will play at the same stage with students of Yolaman Hummayev Special Music Collge. We hope that they will not disappoint us.

Since we made up our trio with Johannes Eichhorn, we have made concert tours to such big cities of the world as Hague, San Sebastian, Lisbon, Luxemburg, Paris, Genoa, Stockholm and Algiers. This is our first visit to Turkmenistan and although we did not see much, we were impressed by broad avenues, immaculate cleanness and refined style of architectural ensembles. We hope that we will have enough time to see your city better but for a time being we discovered very cordial and hospitable audience for ourselves.
