TURKMENISTAN AND UZBEKISTAN «SYNCHRONIZED WATCHES» ON THE EVE OF THE SUMMIT OF LEADERS OF CENTRAL ASIA
Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held talks with Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the country Sardor Umurzakov, who arrived in Ashgabat on a working visit.
The parties considered the possibilities of building up partnerships in transport, fuel and energy and other areas of mutual interest. The vice-premiers of the neighboring states noted the relevance of the work of the Joint Turkmen-Uzbek intergovernmental commission and spoke in favor of organizing a meeting of the commission's co-chairs within the framework of the upcoming consultative meeting of the heads of state of Central Asia.
Sardor Umurzakov also met with Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov.
During the conversation, the parties stressed the importance of the upcoming Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia, within the framework of which bilateral negotiations are scheduled. The parties also discussed issues of enhancing transport and transit communication between the two countries, strengthening energy and industrial cooperation, including the petrochemical industry.
During the visit, the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan also met with the heads of a number of Turkmen ministries and departments.
