INTERNATIONAL TRANSLATION DAY – HOLIDAY OF MUTUAL UNDERSTANDING

The International Translation Day is celebrated in the world on September 30.
This professional holiday of the linguists, involved the translation of different texts from one language to another, teachers of foreign languages, who teaches in the schools and higher educational institutions, interpreters of the cinema and audio production, as well as referents and assistants, who provides mutual understanding of parties in the business and political negotiations.
Milliards of people of our planet wouldn’t have been able to be familiar with the fictional works of the prominent foreign authors, read required for work or hobby technical literature, published in other languages, understand what the favourite foreign groups sing about without the translators. Without the representatives of this profession there would be no mutual understanding and cultural enrichment.
The labour of the translator is barely visible, but exclusively important — due to their work the countries and communities can share knowledges and experience, supporting and accelerating the world progress.
The translators and interpreters, synchronists, specialists on indigenous language and sign language — there are many nuances in this profession.
On September 30 all over the world the events are held, aimed at, on the one part, - increasing awareness about profession and its role in the life of society, and on the other part — assistance and support to the specialists. Press conferences, round tables, trainings and seminars, as well as awarding of the best translators, distinguished for special services, — such events are held both in a global scope and in local levels. Last but not least, the colleagues and family also get in on the congratulations.
People in our planet speak 6-7 thousand languages.
More than 300 thousand — about that much professional translators are in the world.
One specialist translates in average about 250 words per hour.
The purpose of the international date — to confirm that the professional translation, as handicraft and art, plays an important role in the achievement of the objectives and observance of the principles of the Charter of the United Nations, rapprochement of people, assistance in dialogue, mutual understanding and cooperation, promotion development and strengthening of the international peace and security.
