YULDUZ DZHUMABAYEVA WON BRONZE IN SNATCH AT THE 2021 WORLD WEIGHTLIFTING CHAMPIONSHIPS
Turkmen athletes started at the World Weightlifting Championship, which is taking place in Tashkent. On the second day of the competition, women in the 49 kg weight category competed for medals, in which 13 participants from 11 countries competed for the awards.
The hopes of the Turkmen sports fans in this weight were associated with the performance of the 2018 world champion in the non-Olympic weight category up to 45 kg Yulduz Dzhumabayeva.
In the first exercise, Yulduz took the initial weight of 76 kg only on the second attempt, securing herself a small bronze medal in the snatch. In the final approach in the fight for the small silver medal, she tried to fix 79 kg over her head - 3 kg less than her best result four years ago. But the projectile did not obey the athlete.
In the second exercise - clean and jerk - the coaches of our national team ordered 100 kg - 7 kg less than the best result shown by Yulduz in 2017 at the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat. The 2018 world champion tried to take this weight twice, but to no avail. In the final approach, Y. Dzhumabayeva tried to push 101 kg, but could not and as a result finished the competition with a zero mark.
Another Turkmen sportswoman, a debutante of the World Championship, Byagul Berdyeva with the result of 166 kg (snatch - 73 kg, clean and jerk - 93 kg) took seventh place.
Surodchana Hambao (Thailand) became the world champion in the weight up to 49 kg - 191 kg (86 + 105). Rira Suzuki (Japan) rose to the second step of the podium with 179 kg (78 + 101). And Ibuki Takahashi (Japan) closed the top three - 172kg (71 + 101).
Today, at the World Weightlifting Championship, medals will be played in the weight category up to 61 kg for men, in which Turkmenistan will be represented by the silver medalist of the Asian Championship in snatch Seyitjan Mirzaev.
