NEW JOINT PROJECT ON INCREASING RESILIENCE OF TURKMENISTAN TO THE ARAL SEA CRISIS WAS DISCUSSED

«Conservation and Sustainable Management of Land Resources and High Nature Value Ecosystems in the Aral Sea Basin" meeting of the Coordination Council to evaluate a new project to increase the resilience of Turkmenistan to the Aral Sea crisis was held in Turkmenistan.
The representatives of several ministries and departments, bank institutions, Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan took part in the meeting organized with the support of UNDP.
Along with the goals and objectives, the participants also discussed the process of monitoring and evaluating the implementation of the project.
"Conservation and Sustainable Management of Land Resources and High Nature Value Ecosystems in the Aral Sea Basin for Multiple Benefits” Project funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF). It is aimed at the supporting of the land degradation neutrality (LDN), restoration and improvement of use of the land and water resources and conservation of the biodiversity in the zone of influence of the Aral Sea crisis in Lebap and Dashoguz regions. The project will also further promote Turkmenistan’s initiatives within the framework of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea.
